Warren Central tennis wins playoff match

Warren Central’s first-round match in the MHSAA Class 6A tennis playoffs was a walk in the park.

The Vikings only lost eight games total in their six victories Tuesday as the rolled past Olive Branch 6-1. Warren Central advanced to face Madison Central in the second round Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at Halls Ferry Park.

Joseph Jabour and Amanda Boleware both won their singles matches 6-1, 6-1 against Olive Branch. Also winning their matches were the boys doubles teams of Matthew Register and William Wooten, and Brent Styles and George Wilkerson; the girls doubles team of Madison Kendall and Skyler Gibson; and the mixed doubles team of Alex Velazquez and Lauren Davis.

In other high school tennis action, St. Aloysius defeated Hartfield Academy 6-3 and Riverfield Academy 8-2 on Tuesday to win the regular-season MAIS District 3-AAA championship.

St. Al will host the District 3-AAA tournament at Halls Ferry Park on Monday beginning at 9 a.m.
