Koestler wins MACJC award

RAYMOND — Carlisle Koestler closed out his junior college career with one last highlight.

The Hinds Community College and former Warren Central star was selected on Tuesday as the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges Pitcher of the Week for his efforts in the state playoffs over the weekend.

Koestler earned the win in a 12-11 victory over Northwest Community College Friday in Game 1 of a best-of-three state tournament playoff series. Koestler pitched 3 1/3 innings of shutout relief. He struck out seven and walked one.

Hinds lost Games 2 and 3 of the series with Northwest and was eliminated from the state tournament. It finished the season with a 25-22 record.

Koestler finished the season with a 10-3 record and three saves. He had a 2.95 ERA and 63 strikeouts in 55 innings pitched. The redshirt freshman will continue his career next season at Southeastern Louisiana University.
