Charles Alfred “Sonny” Rule

Charles Alfred “Sonny” Rule, a lifelong resident of Vicksburg passed away Monday, May 9, 2016, at his home. He was 75.

He was the son of the late Theodore and Mary Pauline (Thomas) Rule. Sonny retired as a command sergeant major with the 412th Engineer Command, where he served from 1972 until 1992. He was also retired from BellSouth Telecommunications Co.

He was a member of the Warren County Historical Society and the Genealogical Society. He was a member of the Yokena Presbyterian Church, the Masonic Order and a 1958 graduate of Jett High School.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Peggy Jo (Rule) Steen; first wife, Evelyn Claire (Halper) Rule; and second wife, Vivian Jean (Meade) Rule.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Rose (Pharr) Rule; sisters, Frances Maxine (Rule) Heagey (Dan) of Maryville, Tenn., and Pamela Jean (Rule) Snyder (Jay) of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; daughters, Christine Carol Bryant (Jeff) of Hattiesburg, Pauline Claire Rule of Jackson, Terri Leigh Hyatt (Billy) of Franklin, Tenn., and Bonnie June Farlow (Adam) of London, England; stepchildren, Jim Bishop (Jan), Cathy Head (Greg), Mike Bishop (Brenda) and Leigh Lewis (Paul); grandchildren, Timothy Bryant, Stephen Bryant, Ashley Bryant, Drew Hyatt, Crispin Hyatt, Tia Hyatt, Tom Farlow, Lily Farlow and Sam Farlow; and four step-grandchildren.

Services will be noon Thursday, May 12, 2016, at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Herrin of Yokena Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Billy Brumfield of Immanuel Baptist Church and the Rev. Johnny Hankins of Calhoun Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be at Yokena Cemetery.

Visitation is Wednesday, from 5 to 7 p.m., and Thursday from 11a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be the grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Lennell “Butch” Clanton, John Price, Rhada Hopkins, Jimmy Stanford, Buddy Parsons, Milton Myers, Ricky Palermo, Gene Steen, Eric McCaskill, Beth Brooks, Zula Jones, Carlton Carlisle, Richard Coleman and Dee Hyland.
