Funeral services for Lillie Mae Thomas will be 1 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Mount Olive M. B. Church with the Rev. Leon Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Thomas of Vicksburg died Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at Merit Health River Region Medical Center. She was 79.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Mount Olive M. B. Church, where she was an usher and active in the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her father, Eddie Turpin Sr.; mother Lucy Weston; husband, George Thomas; brother, James “Jimmy” Williams; and sister, Canary Johnson.

Survivors include three sons, Clark Turpin of Vicksburg, George Thomas Jr. of Pearl and Jessie Thomas of Dallas; two daughters Lucy Aikerson of Grayson, Ga., and Catherine Williams of Vicksburg; brother, Eddie Turpin Jr. of Chicago; nine grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
