Three men free after drug charge

Two Vicksburg men and a Jackson man accused of having drugs were free on bail Monday.

James Smith III, 40, 114 North Locust St.; Roosevelt McCalpin, 21, 2456 Clinton Blvd. Apt. 5B, Jackson; and Louis Miller, 43, 729 National St., were arrested during a traffic stop at 9 p.m. Friday at the corner of Letitia and Speed streets, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said. All three were charged Monday with possession of cocaine, Williams said.

Bond was set for Smith at $20,000 and for McCalpin and Miller at $10,000 each, Williams said.

Man released to Correctional facility after violation

A Vicksburg man was released to Central Mississippi Correctional Facility after being held for the Mississippi Department of Corrections Tuesday.

Willie Lyons, 22, 1210 Jackson St., was held in the Warren County Jail Monday on a warrant from MDOC for earned release supervision violation, according to Warren County jail records.
