Gulfport man charged by city and county

A Gulfport man accused of stealing a vehicle was held in the Warren County Jail Wednesday.

Joshua Henry Phelps, 29, 3015 F Avenue, Gulfport, was arrested by Warren County Sheriff’s deputies at 3:27 p.m. Tuesday at the 6 mile marker eastbound on Interstate 20, Vicksburg police Lt. Troy Kimble and Sheriff Martin Pace said.

At 3:15 p.m. officers in both the city and the county were alerted a 2012 Toyota was stolen from a convenience store at 3500 block of U.S. Highway 61 South, Pace said.

Phelps was charged by the city with motor vehicle taking, and his bond was set at $25,000, Kimble said.

When Phelps was arrested he was in possession of a 25-caliber semi-automatic handgun that had been reported stolen on Scott Road earlier the same day and was listed as a suspect, Pace said. He will be detained and charged with felon in possession of a firearm by the county, Pace said.

 

Man held for Claiborne County

A man wanted out of Claiborne County was found and arrested in Warren County Thursday morning.

Armon Glenn Former, 19, 697 Belva Drive, was arrested at 1:15 a.m. Thursday by Warren County Sheriff’s deputies, Pace said.

Former was wanted for burglary of a dwelling and armed robbery in Claiborne County, Pace said. The U.S. Marshall Service had been working with Claiborne County deputies to find Former and alerted the Warren County Sheriff’s Office that he could be in Warren County, Pace said.

Former is in the Warren County Jail waiting to be picked up by Claiborne County deputies, Pace said.

 

Man held for not paying child support

A Vicksburg man accused of failing to pay child support was held without bail Wednesday.

Dean Andrews, 46, 1815 Eisenhower Drive, was arrested Tuesday and charged with non-support child support, according to jail records.

 

Man held for having stolen items

A Vicksburg man accused of having property that had been stolen was held without bail Wednesday.

Anfernee Chiplin, 19, 1414 1st East St., was arrested Wednesday and charged with possession of stolen property, according to jail records.

 

Man held for violation

A Warren County man was held without bail Wednesday from the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

David Cooke, 26, 719 Boy Scout Road, was held in the Warren County jail Wednesday on a warrant from MDOC for probation violation, according to Warren County jail records.
