A stolen van and ATM were recovered in Louisiana Thursday following two thefts reported in Vicksburg.
At 5 a.m. Thursday, Vicksburg police officers responded to a report of a business burglary at CVS Pharmacy, 1435 North Frontage Road, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.
“Officers on scene determined someone pried the sliding glass doors open, entered the business and stole the ATM,” she said.
At 7:45 a.m. Thursday, the Goldie’s Express van was reported stolen from 3313 Pemberton Square Blvd., Williams said.
“The van was used to commit the burglary,” she said.
Shortly after, the police department received information the van had been spotted in a bayou in Madison Parish, La. and the ATM was found in a parking lot also in Madison Parish, La, Williams said.
“We have investigators in Madison Parish following up on the information,” she said.
The incident is still under investigation.
A similar theft occurred in the Jackson area two weeks ago. A van was stolen out of Ridgeland and an ATM was stolen from a Jackson Walgreens on Meadowbrook Road, according to a report from Jackson television station WLBT. Before that ATM was stolen, the burglars attempted to take a different ATM from the Madison Walgreens on Highland Colony Parkway. The van used in that burglary was also recovered in Madison, La.
