The leaderboard at the Bud Light 2-Man Scramble was crowded, with 20 teams in the first two flights separated by six shots.

That was all for second place and below, though. At the top, Frank Maxwell and Greg Hogue stood alone.

Maxwell and Hogue teamed up to shoot a 60 on Saturday in the first round of the tournament held at Clear Creek Golf Course, and will take a five-shot lead into Sunday’s final round.

Sam Pace and Joseph Stewart were in second place after shooting a 65. Three teams — Jerry Montgomery and James Comans, Shawn Kurtz and Judd Mims, and Brady Ellis and Ryan Hoben — were tied for third after shooting 66.

Seventeen other teams shot 71 or better. Other teams in the championship flight are Mike Caruthers and Keith Ehrhardt; Meredith Spencer and Justin Spencer; Jesse Johnson and Tom Johnson; and Gary Knight and Greg Bullard.

A total of 48 two-man teams are competing in the tournament, which is one of the biggest held each year at Clear Creek. The final round will begin Sunday at 8 a.m. for the lower flights, and 1 p.m. for the championship flight.
