Power was knocked out to industries along Interplex Circle in the Ceres Industrial Park for about five hours Sunday night after a car struck and broke a guy wire holding a cement utility pole and breaking off the top of the pole holding several transformers, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said.

Pace said the outage occurred about 9:45 p.m. when a northbound car driven by Laura Meeks, 52, 397 Loredo Drive, left Interplex and crossed a ditch near the Mississippi Department of Transportation maintenance complex, jumping the complex driveway and hit the guy wire, taking the top off the pole and stopping in the MDOT parking lot.

Meeks was taken by ambulance to University of Mississippi Medical Center, where a hospital spokesperson Monday said she was in good condition.

The Ceres Industrial Park holds several manufacturing companies, including Tyson Foods and TanTec, a leather tanning company.

Entergy Mississippi spokesperson Shelia McInnis said power was out to Tyson Foods and TanTec for about five hours while crews worked to reroute power around the affected area, adding power was restored about 2:25 a.m. Monday. She said as of 7 a.m. 11 customers in the area remained without power. She said power was expected to be restored by 8:30 a.m.
