An Arkansas woman on a vacation trip to Florida with her boyfriend was injured Friday morning when the Chevrolet SUV she was driving hit a guard rail and struck a bridge column in the eastbound lane of Interstate 20 at the Halls Ferry Road overpass, Vicksburg police Lt. Leonce Young said.
Trinette Lee, 34, of Eudora, Ark., was flown by helicopter to University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, but information on her condition was not available. Charles Toston, also of Eudora, was treated and released from Merit Health River Region Medical Center, Young said.
Tolson told Young he had fallen asleep in the SUV while Lee was driving, was awakened by a jolt, looked up and saw a white column.
