Junior golf championship

The Warren County Junior Golf Championship is scheduled for July 21 and 22 at Clear Creek Golf Course. The two-round tournament will begin at 9 a.m. both days, and is open to boys and girls ages 7-18. There are six age divisions, and the best score from the 14-15 or 16-18-year-olds’ division will earn an automatic berth in the Warren County Championship. The entry fee is $15. St. Al football camp

St. Aloysius will host a youth football camp on July 27, at 8:30 a.m. to noon at Balzli Field. The camp is for children ages 12 and under, and the cost is $40 per person. Campers must have cleats, a T-shirt and shorts. For more information, call St. Al coach BJ Smithhart at 601-529-1997.

 

VSO registration open

Registration for the Vicksburg Soccer Organization’s fall season is now available online at vsosoccer.org. There are leagues for children ages 4-14, and the registration fee ranges from $60 to $90 depending on age. Early bird registration is available until July 31 and comes with a $5 discount. Open registration will continue until Aug. 21.

 

VCC Junior Golf Camp

The Vicksburg Country Club will host its junior golf, tennis and swim camp throughout the summer. Camps for children ages 9 and older will be held July 26-29, and camps for children ages 8 and under will be July 19-21 and Aug. 2-5. The camps will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day, and will include golf and tennis activities followed by swimming in the VCC pool. The cost of the camp is $150 for the week for non-VCC members.

Gator Golf Classic

The inaugural Gator Golf Classic, a tournament to benefit the Vicksburg High baseball program, is scheduled for Aug. 5 at Clear Creek Golf Course. Registration for the two-person scramble is $150 per team, or $90 for an individual. Hole sponsorships are also available for $100, $225 and $500. Sign-in for the tournament will begin at 12:15 p.m. on Aug. 5, and golfing starts at 1 with a shotgun start. An awards ceremony and dinner will follow at the Clear Creek clubhouse. A grand prize of two YETI coolers will be awarded, and there are also prizes for the top three finishers in each flight, for the longest drive and closest to the pin.

Packers registration

The Vicksburg Packers youth football team will hold registration each Monday, Tuesday and Thursday through Aug. 13, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at the Vicksburg Junior High football stadium on Rosa A. Temple Drive. Registration is open to boys ages 6 to 12. The registration fee is $25, and a state ID and original birth certificate are required. The registration fee for the 2016 season is $100 per child.
