Officials with Riverside Construction Co. have identified the man missing after a dump truck ran into the Mississippi River Tuesday as Michael Collins, 22, of Vicksburg.

Collins has been missing since about 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, when his truck went into the river while moving limestone from barges moored on the river at the Florida Marine Transport property to another location on the Florida Marine site.

Witnesses told police Collins was still in the truck when it went down, but commercial divers sent to the scene by Riverside said he was not in the truck’s cab when it was found under the barges.

Authorities said the truck has been pulled from the water and is being examined by Vicksburg police and Occupational Safety Health and Administration officials.
