VWSD Hall of Fame banquet

The inaugural class of the Vicksburg Warren School District Athletic Hall of Fame will be honored at a banquet at Roca Restaurant on Thursday, Sept. 1, at 6 p.m. The event is open to the public. Tickets are $20, and are available at the VWSD athletic office on Mission 66.

The Hall of Fame’s inaugural class includes former Warren Central football stars Tony Smith, Carl Blue and Sean Brewer; former Vicksburg High basketball star Cynthia Hall; and former Vicksburg High tennis star Barry Hassell.

On Wednesday, Clear Creek Ladies Golf Association members had a round of individual stroke play. Linda McHann won Flight A, with Connie Kegerreis and Martha Masterson winning Flights B and C, respectively. Emily Bonelli made the day’s only chip-in, while Charlotte Crist logged the lowest putting score.

Flag football registration

Registration will continue through Sept. 4 for the Vicksburg Warren Flag Football league. The season starts Sept. 11. For information, call James Judge at 601-415-4500.

Fall baseball registration

Registration is now open for the City of Vicksburg’s youth fall baseball league. The cost is $25 per player, and registration is open until Sept. 12. Registration forms can be picked up at the Parks and Recreation Department office and Hobie’s Sports. Coaches are also needed. For more information, call 601-634-4514.

Adult softball league

Registration for the City of Vicksburg’s adult co-ed softball league is now open and will continue until Sept. 16. The cost is $175 per team, with an extra fee of $10 for each player from Warren County who lives outside the city limits and $20 for each player from Sharkey, Claiborne and Issaquena counties. Registration forms are available at the Parks and Rec office.

City tennis sessions

The City of Vicksburg’s tennis program will conduct a free youth clinic and practice sessions during the fall. Sessions are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Halls Ferry Park courts. The clinic is for children ages 5 to 18, and is free. YMCA football registration

Registration is now open for the Vicksburg YMCA’s 2016 youth football season. The league will have three age divisions for children in grades K-6, and there are also cheerleading teams.

The K-2 division will meet every Monday for six weeks and focus on teaching fundamentals. The Grades 3-4 league is a flag football league, while the Grades 5-6 league is tackle football.

The registration fee for all leagues is $40 per child for YMCA members, or $70 for non-members. For more information or to register, visit the Purks YMCA, or call 601-638-1071.
