Handguns reported stolen

Firearms were reported stolen in two burglaries over the Labor Day weekend, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.

• A .38-caliber Taurus Arms revolver valued at $350 was reported stolen from a home in the 4400 block of Halls Ferry Road about 2 p.m. Friday.

• A 9mm Beretta semi-automatic pistol was reported stolen Sunday about 3:30 p.m. from a home in the 1300 block of Division Street.

• In another case, three 25-foot power cords with a total value of $450 were reported stolen from an 18-wheeler parked in the 5400 block of U.S. 61 South.

Man charged in motorcycle theft

A Vicksburg man faces theft charges after his arrest involving the theft of a motorcycle reported stolen from Brandon, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.

Alfred Sanders, 37, was arrested about 3 p.m. Tuesday in the 1400 block of Parkside Drive with the motorcycle. He also faces charges of possession of a stolen firearm after police found a .380-caliber handgun that also had been reported stolen during the arrest. He was being held without bond in the Issaquena County Corrections Facility pending an initial appearance.

In other cases:

• Police arrested Ricky Ballard, 33, about 5 p.m. Tuesday in the 4200 block of Washington Street on a Mississippi Department of Corrections warrant charging him with probation violation. Ballard was on probation for a previous burglary charge.

• A Vicksburg man faces felony charges in Richland after he was arrested Sunday by Vicksburg police in Waltersville Estates, police Capt. Sandra Williams said.

Fred Moorehean was arrested on a warrant from the Richland Police Department charging him with being an accessory after the fact to a crime.

• Zachary Bryant, 28, was arrested about 5:50 p.m. Friday at the corner of First North and Jackson streets on a grand jury warrant charging him with possession of a controlled substance and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

• Kareem Brooks, 35, was arrested on a grand jury warrant charging him with grand larceny. The warrant was discovered during a records check after a traffic stop about 11 p.m. Friday at the corner of Clay and Cherry streets for a seat belt violation.
