Over the River Run

Registration is open for the 28th annual Over the River Run, a 5-mile run, race walk and fun run on the Old Mississippi River Bridge. This year’s race is scheduled for Oct. 8 at 8 a.m. The entry fee is $25 per person, or $15 for children ages 10 and under. There is also a $75 family rate for up to five immediate family members living at the same address, and a $100 rate for 3-5 person corporate teams.

The Over the River Run benefits the Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation. Entry forms are available at the SCHF office, at 1302 Adams Street, or Hobie’s Outdoor Sports. Online registration and more information is available at southernculture.org/events/otrr.htm.

Adult softball league

Registration for the City of Vicksburg’s adult co-ed softball league is now open and will continue until Sept. 16. The cost is $175 per team, with an extra fee of $10 for each player from Warren County who lives outside the city limits and $20 for each player from Sharkey, Claiborne and Issaquena counties. City tennis sessions

The City of Vicksburg’s tennis program will conduct a free youth clinic and practice sessions during the fall. Sessions are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Halls Ferry Park courts. The clinic is for children ages 5 to 18, and there is no charge to participate. USM baseball camps

The Southern Miss baseball program will host two camps this fall at Pete Taylor Park in Hattiesburg.

The Hitting Under the Lights Camp will begin Sept. 26 and run for four consecutive Mondays, from 6 to 8 p.m. each night. This camp is for high school players and focuses on hitting mechanics and approach. The cost is $150 per camper.

The second camp is the Fall Showcase Camp, scheduled for Nov. 20 at noon. This camp is for players ranging from high school freshmen to junior college sophomores. It will provide instruction on defensive position, speed training and hitting. The camp is limited to 100 players, and the cost is $155.

Arrowhead Golf tourney

The Arrowhead Junior Golf Tour will host the Beaver Creek Fall Classic Oct. 8 and 9 at Beaver Creek Golf Club in Zachary, La. The two-day, 36-hole tournament is for players ages 11-18. The entry fee is $185 per player, and the entry deadline is Oct. 5. Trophies will be awarded in four age divisions, and the entry fee includes greens fees and tee gifts.
