Lady Vikes thump Vicksburg

The Vicksburg Missy Gators put up a better fight this time around than in their last game against Warren Central, but the end result was the same.
For almost anyone facing Warren Central these days, that seems to be the case.
Cocoa Fultz homered twice, doubled, and drove in six runs, and Sarah Kate Smith went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs as Warren Central beat Vicksburg 16-6 on Thursday.
It’s the sixth consecutive game in which Warren Central (17-4) has scored at least 13 runs, a streak that includes a 16-1 victory over Vicksburg 10 days ago. The Lady Vikes have scored 10 or more runs in 16 of their 21 games this season.
On Thursday, the Lady Vikes had eight extra base hits among their total of 17 hits. They were also helped by Vicksburg, which committed seven errors.
After Vicksburg scored twice in the top of the first inning, Warren Central quickly took the lead in the bottom half with back-to-back home runs by Fultz and Smith. Fultz’s three-run shot put WC ahead, and Smith’s solo homer to center field made it 4-2.
Smith singled in two more runs in the second inning, but Vicksburg’s Kelsey Lockridge belted a three-run home run in the third to pull the Missy Gators to within 7-5. Lockridge finished the game 2-for-2 with a double, home run, three RBIs and two runs scored.
Felicity Delgado hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning to get the Missy Gators within a run, and then Warren Central stomped on the gas.
Laura Reagan Logue doubled in a run and scored another in the bottom of the fifth to make it 9-6, and the Lady Vikes erupted for seven runs in the sixth to finish the game by the 10-run mercy rule. Fultz hit another three-run homer to highlight the final rally.
Logue was 3-for-4 in the game, and Claire Tillman had two hits for Warren Central.
