A Vicksburg teenager accused of shooting into a car and wounding its driver is being held in the Warren County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bond, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.
Uriah Warfield, 17, is charged with aggravated assault and shooting into an occupied vehicle in an Oct. 12 incident in which Brandon Jackson, 25 was shot and wounded in the back.
Police said the shooting was in retaliation for a robbery that occurred earlier in the day by two people who were passengers in the car with Jackson. The passengers, Louis Gaskin, 35, of Vicksburg, and Tiarra Denegall, 21, of Moss Point, are being held in the Warren County jail.
Gaskin is being held in lieu of $75,000 bond charged with armed robbery, and Denegall is being held in lieu of $5,000 bond, charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery. All the bonds were set Tuesday during initial appearances in Municipal Court.
According to police reports, Warfield said he was in his car when he was robbed by Gaskin about 3 p.m. The location of the robbery has not been determined. He said Gaskin took his keys during the robbery and threw them in some nearby bushes.
An hour later, Warfield was standing by his car in the 1000 block of Second North Street, when he saw Gaskin and Denegall in a passing car driven by Jackson. He fired one shot at the car and the bullet entered and struck Jackson in the back. The car crashed at the corner of Grove and Second North, and Jackson got out, collapsing later in the school property.
