Post to no longer publish comics

Effective Sunday, The Vicksburg Post will no longer publish comic strips.

The decision reduces the newspaper’s investment in non-local content in order to help it invest more in local content.

“We have made this decision — and others — focused on adding more local content to the daily newspaper, content our readers have told us they enjoy and would like more of,” Post publisher Tim Reeves said. “In addition, those features in particular came with a significant cost. By removing these features, we are in a better position to continue investing in our business and in the Vicksburg community.”

While the change is financial, allowing The Post to focus investments in more local content, it also reflects the change in readership.

“We understand the connection and passion many readers have for the daily and Sunday comics. We also understand and appreciate the disappointment some readers may have over this decision,” Reeves said.

“I encourage readers to call or write us with questions and comments about this decision. We welcome that feedback.”
