Richard George Cooper

Richard George Cooper died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. He was 69.
Mr. Cooper was born in Massapequa, N.Y., to the late Edward and Alma Peterson Cooper. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during the Vietnam Conflict. He had been a resident of Vicksburg since 1976. He was an engineering technician for Waterways Experiment Station, retiring in 2013 after 31 years of service. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Trinity, where he served as a member of the Vestry and as Senior Warden. He also worked with the Boy Scouts. He was an avid golfer and fisherman and a member of several senior golf leagues.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Cooper.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Cooper; a son, Greg Cooper of Kosciusko; a brother, Jim Cooper (Barbara) of Longwood, Fla.; an uncle, Bill Peterson of Vero Beach, Fla.; his mother-in- law, Ruth McAdam of Boynton Beach, Fla.; three brothers-in-law, Bob McAdam (Sandi) of Vicksburg, Bill McAdam of Pompano, Fla., and Bruce McAdam (Melisa) of Boynton Beach, Fla.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, at Church of the Holy Trinity with the Rev. Beth Palmer officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 11 a.m. until the hour of service.
Pallbearers will be Joe Tom, Sam Wong, Bill McCleese, Sam Corson, Charles Marascalco, John George, James McCaskill, Donald Cargile, Norman Francingues and Rod Post.
