Victor K. ‘Johnny’ McGriff

Victor K. “Johnny” McGriff went to meet his Savior on Dec. 5, 2016. He was 77.

Born in Sebastopol, he spent his younger years and was educated there.

He traveled for years throughout the country working as a lineman for contractors of electrical utilities. After 21 years of faithful and dedicated service, he retired from Entergy of Mississippi.

He was always ready to go when called on for outages and never refused a call.

As a young man he served in the U.S. Marines in Vietnam. He was a lifetime member of the National IBEW and Local Union 605. Victor’s favorite hobbies were metal detecting and diving with his underwater detector. His favorite sports were the ballgames his grandchildren were playing in. 

Left behind to miss him and love him are his wife, Mary Hopkins McGriff; sons, John McGriff (Chandal) and Raymond Hopkins (Rosemarie); daughter, Brenda Hopkins Warnock (Barry); grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Blake Warnock, Lance Warnock, Jonathan Hopkins, Jacob Hopkins, Robbie Ferreira (Bernadette), Nathan Ferreira, Marisa Ferreira Libby (Brendan), Ashley McGriff, Cheyenne Hopkins, Jackson Libby, Brannan Ferreira, Amelia Libby and Cruz Ferreira.

He also leaves numerous nieces and nephews.

Victor was preceded in death by a son, Wayne McGriff.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date by Riles Funeral Home.
