Restoration of power to 2,156 Entergy customers delayed to evening

Restoration of power to 2,156 Entergy customers in Warren County has been pushed back to 5 p.m., Entergy spokesperson Shelia McKinnis said.

Most of those customers are in an area south of Interstate 20, Mississippi 27 and Porter’s Chapel Road served by Entergy’s East Vicksburg substation, which went down early Sunday morning when high winds accompanying a storm front blew a tree on a transmission line, sending it into a ravine.

Officials initially estimated power would be restored by noon. So far, McKinnis said, 571 customers in the affected area had been restored.
