Louis Clifford Fumbanks III

Louis Clifford Fumbanks III died Monday, Dec. 19, 2016, in Vicksburg. He was 83 years old.

L.C., as he was known, was born and raised in Dyersburg, Tenn. He was of the Presbyterian faith.

L.C. graduated from Dyersburg High School and received a degree in civil engineering from the University of Tennessee.

He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District as chief of navigation branch.

L.C. was preceded in death by his father, Louis C. Fumbanks Jr., and his mother, Helen Smith Fumbanks, both of Dyersburg, Tenn.

He leaves behind to mourn his death two sons, Louis C. Fumbanks IV (Cindy) of Vicksburg and James M. Fumbanks of Guntersville, Ala.; one granddaughter, Anna K. Fumbanks of Hattiesburg; three sisters, Helen Jane Lindamood (Bill) of Tiptonville, Tenn., Christine Lucas (Richard) of Benton, Ark., and Phoebe Hensley (Danny) of Tupelo; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He also leaves behind two close friends, Robert Tisdale and Michael White.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Paul Pierce III and the ICU nurses at Merit Health River Region for their loving care during L.C.’s illness.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Dyersburg, Tenn.
