Three people were injured when two pickup trucks collided head-on on Mississippi 27 between Scott and Gibson roads, according to information from the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

The wreck occurred about 6:30 p.m. MHP spokesman Trooper Eric Henry said a Chevrolet 1500 pickup driven by Gary Guillot, 24, of Vicksburg, was traveling northbound on Mississippi 27, when Guillot lost control of the truck and it veered into the southbound lane colliding with a Chevrolet 3500 pickup driven by Forrest McFarland of Foley, Ala.

Guillot and Justin Daumn, 27, a passenger in his truck, and McFarland were injured in the wreck.

All three were taken to Merit Health River Region. Daumn and McFarland were flown by AirCare Helicopter to University of Mississippi Medical Center, where both were in fair condition Sarturday morning. Guillot was treated at River Region. His condition was unavailable.

Traffic was blocked for about two hours, said Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace, who responded to the scene.

He said sheriff’s deputies directed traffic while emergency medical workers and MHP troopers worked the wreck.

“There was a pickup towing a trailer with another pickup on it sitting on the shoulder of the northbound lane facing south and another truck on the shoulder in the southbound lane facing north,” Pace said. “The trailer with the truck on it was sitting crossways, blocking the highway.”

The three victims were taken by Vicksburg Fire Department ambulance to Merit Health River Region, where two of them were transferred immediately to AirCare helicopters for the flight to UMMC in Jackson.

“One helicopter landed on the pad at the hospital, and we blocked off a section of the road to the hospital by the emergency room entrance for the other helicopter. Both patients went directly from the ambulance to the helicopters.”
