Dorothy ‘Dot’ Andrews

Dorothy “Dot” Andrews died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2016, at Select Specialty Care in Ridgeland. She was 76.
Born in Belzoni, she was the daughter of the late Edward Somerville and Thelma Fife Somerville.
Dot was a graduate of Carr Central High School in the class of 1958. She worked as a medical technologist for Kuhn Memorial Hospital, Madison Parish Hospital and Medical Pathology with over 30 years of service. Dot was an artist and enjoyed crafting. She was a devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Ladies Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her son, Jerry Rushing (Dorothy); her daughter, Mary Wilds; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Randy Somerville.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Kevin Dale Rushing; two sisters, Ann Ashley and Yvonne Johnson; and a brother, Charles Somerville.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, at Riles Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dwight Sibley officiating.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the service. Interment will be in Green Lawn Gardens Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Ladies Sunday School Class of Calvary Baptist Church, 2878 Old Highway 27, Vicksburg, MS 39180.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Rushing, Joshua Rushing, Jordan Rushing, Jonathan Somerville, Roy Ashley and Roger Ashley. Honorary Pallbearers will be Calvin Ashley Sr., Dr. Susan Chiarito and members of the Ladies Sunday School Class of Calvary Baptist Church.
