Mrs. Mary M. Chester passed away on Jan. 1, 2017, at Merit Health River Region Medical Center. She was 85.

Mrs. Chester was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg, where she was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Dorsey Chester Sr. and her parents, E. R. Hampton and Callie Hampton.

She is survived by her sons, Danny Ray Chester (Lucinda) and James D. “Jimmy” Chester Jr. of Vicksburg; her sisters, Gloria Pettway of Vicksburg and Faye Milo of Vallejo, Calif.; her grandchildren, Daniel (Tabitha) and Michael (Megan); and her great-grandchildren, Abby, Raleigh Marie and Tobbie.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Roy Maine officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Henry Graham, Bobby Raney, Mike Hampton, Quinn McClurg, Bo McCloud and Eric Pettway. Honorary pallbearers will be Glen Jones, Johnny Griffin and the members of Ridgeway Baptist Church.
