HAZELHURST — Andrew (Andy) LeRoy Sims died Jan. 5, 2017, at his residence in Gallman after a lengthy illness. He was 60. 

Born in Vicksburg, Andy was the beloved son of Thaddeus and Mary Helen Sanders Sims. He was a graduate of H. V. Cooper High School in the class of 1974, and received his degree from Belhaven College in Jackson.

Andy was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Vicksburg where he was active in the music ministry. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hazlehurst at the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Brenda Joyce Brown Sims; four children, Andrea Sims Jordan of Brookhaven, Daniel Sims, Joel Sims and Paul Sims, all of Gallman; and his mother, Mary Helen Sanders Sims of Vicksburg.

He was preceded in death by his father, T.L. Sims and his sister, Linda Bess Markos.

Services were held in Hazlehurst.
