The Knights of Columbus and St. Aloysius students are making a second trip to Walmart Saturday to collect food for the Vicksburg Food Pantry.

“This is restocking the Pantry after the holidays,” said KC trustee Charles Hahn. “We will be out from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and students from St. Aloysius will be helping us again.

The Knights of Columbus assisted by St. Aloysius students participate in a food drive to help the pantry on Oct. 29, with a goal of collecting 1,000 pounds of food.

“We collected 1,600 pounds of food and got $800 in donations,” he said.

He said people are asked to donate canned goods and non-perishable items like cereal and rice.

The project is part of a nationwide KC program called the Food for Families initiative to provide food for families in need.

The local food drive is a joint venture between the Knights of Columbus and St. Aloysius, which regularly collects food for the pantry.
