Catherine Mackey Austin died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017, at Merit Health River Region. She was 82.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Catherine was formerly employed at Tuminello’s Restaurant, Long’s Grill, the 3 Guy’s Smoker, Miller 3-61 and S&S Grocery.

She was of the Catholic faith.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Diane Elizabeth Cummins; her sisters, Nancy Cooper, Lillian White and Vivian Pace; and her brothers, John Mackey, Jackie Mackey, Joe Mackey and Bobby Mackey Smith.

Survivors include her daughters, Phyllis Marie Collins and Darlene Bell Smith, both of Vicksburg, Barbara Ann Honeycutt of Pittsburgh and Nellie Lynn Devore of Charlotte, N.C.; her son, David Edgar Darby of Vicksburg; her three sisters, Rosa Bell Lowery and Tommie Hazzlerigg, both of Vicksburg, and Josephine Mackey Perez of New Orleans; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10, 2017, in the chapel of Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Talbert officiating.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Friday until the hour of the service.
