Wanda Geneva Stroud Williams

Wanda Geneva Stroud Williams died peacefully Feb. 16, 2017, at her home in Vicksburg. She was 83.

Both the visitation from 9 to 11 a.m. and the service at 11 a.m. will be at Riles Funeral Home Monday, Feb. 20. The Rev. Jackie Baines and the Rev. Macon Phillips will officiate.

She was born on Oct. 4, 1933, in Gurdon, Ark.  She married Junius Coleman Williams in 1952.  She was a homemaker. She was very successful at a range of athletics and she loved outdoor activities including hunting and fishing.

She enjoyed visiting and shopping with friends. She was a long-time active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Vicksburg. She served tirelessly as the church’s hostess and director of the senior adult ministry. While in good health, she also cooked and cared for many elderly and needy in the community.    

Mrs. Williams is survived by her husband, Junius Coleman Williams of Vicksburg; two sons  Randall Williams (Shirley) of Vicksburg and Royce Williams (Debbie) of Shreveport, La.; five grandchildren, Melanie Williams Bates (Chris) of Vicksburg,  Melissa Williams Thomas (Josh) of Madison, Rebekah Williams Lovorn (Andy) of Alexandria, Va., Sarah Williams of Shreveport and Amanda Williams of Shreveport;  five great-grandchildren, Will Bates, Anna Ruth Lovorn, Caleb Thomas, Landon Williams and Coleman Lovorn;  a brother, Aubrey Gene Stroud of Denver; and two nieces, Belinda Fuchsberger and Erica Stroud. 

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ann Anderson; her father, Lawrence Stroud; her stepfather, Charles (Bill) Anderson; sister-in-law, Maureen Stroud; and sister, Doris Ann Stroud.
