Alan L. Middleton passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was 60.

Born in Vicksburg on April 23, 1956, Alan was the youngest child of the late Louise Potter Middleton and Isaac Bland “Buddy” Middleton.

After graduating from Warren Central High School, he attended Hinds Community College and Mississippi College.

He was a devoted father, brother and son.

He was employed at the Engineer Research and Development Center for 33 years, working as a visual information specialist. He received numerous awards of distinction during his career and retired as ACE-IT chief of staff in 2014.

After retirement, he relocated to Starkville.

He was an avid supporter of Mississippi State University through numerous associations in Starkville, as well as serving as past president of the Warren County MSU Alumni Association.

He is survived by a son, Matthew Alan Middleton; his partner, Debra Schuman; a sister, Sue Roberts (Wayne); a brother, Robert B. Middleton (Sarah); a favorite aunt, Dot Young; former spouse, Roselynn Middleton; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service in his honor will be Tuesday, March 21 at Riles Funeral Home in Vicksburg.

Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. with services to follow at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Mississippi State University.
