Residents interested in standing up against crime, crime victims and families of crime victims are invited to participate in the eighth annual Walk Against Crime/Stop the Violence sponsored by the Vicksburg Police Department.
Participants will meet at Vicksburg City Hall and walk from there to the Warren County Courthouse
“Mayor (George) Flaggs will speak and (Police) Chief (Walter) Armstrong will speak and then we’ll have a prayer before walking to the courthouse,” said Danielle Williams, crime prevention specialist for the police department.
She said the route will go from the City Hall steps on Walnut Street, east on Crawford Street and then North on Cherry Street to the courthouse.
“At the courthouse, Sheriff (Martin) Pace will speak and then (District Attorney) Ricky Smith will speak,” she said. “After they speak, we’ll open things up to let crime victims and the families of victims speak; anyone who has been the victim of a crime may speak.”
There is no fee to participate in the Walk Against Crime, and no registration is required.
