Lenora “Speckie” Pendleton

Lenora “Speckie” Pendleton was born to the late Georgia Mae Benard on March 10, 1954 in Vicksburg.  On May 16, God saw fit to grant her wings.

She moved to Aurora, IL where she graduated from West Aurora High School. She was a member of Gayles Memorial Baptist Church. After 25 years of service, she retired from Lucent Technologies and decided to drive the school bus for LaidLaw and run the kitchen at the Kane County Jail.

She is preceded in death by her mother Georgia Mae Benard, two brothers Redell Benard and Kelvin Benard, two sisters Georgia Ann Hall and Bessie Mae Whitaker.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory two daughters, Elisha Pendleton of Aurora, IL and Heather Pendleton of Tomball, Texas, two grandchildren Ashton Turner of Tomball, Texas and Jessica Pendleton-Martin of Aurora, IL, nine brothers, Alonzo Austin, Jessie (Shelia) Benard, Aaron (Brenda) Benard, Carl Benard,  Andrew (Janice) Benard, George Benard, Mose Benard all of Vicksburg; Joseph (Beltia) Benard of San Antonio, Texas and Roosevelt Benard of Plano, Texas; five sisters Lille Wardly, Nancy Austin, Leaverne (Eddie) Brent, Rebecca (Tommy) Tribble, all of Vicksburg and Eliza (Martin) Bentivengo of Aurora, IL; 7 half siblings and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held at James Funeral Home, Wednesday, May 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. and a funeral will be held Saturday, May 27, 11 a.m. at Greater Grove Street Baptist Church in Vicksburg. James Funeral Home of Aurora, IL and Jefferson Funeral Home of Vicksburg will be serving the family.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with W H Jefferson Funeral Home in charge.
