A A Belzoni man accused of trying to elude a Vicksburg police officer faces charges in Humphreys County for auto theft, police Sgt. Johnnie Edwards said.
Willie Tristin Rodgers, 19, was being held in the Warren County Jail waiting to be taken back to Humphreys County, Edwards said.
Rodgers was arrested Sunday for felony eluding at the intersection of Mission 66 and Martin Luther King Boulevard after trying to avoid the officer, who was attempting to stop him for speeding.
After his arrest, officers learned Rodgers was driving a car reported stolen from Yazoo County when the car’s owner called police to ask about it. The Humphreys County Sheriff’s office sent a warrant for Rodgers’ arrest, and a “hold” was placed on him.
