Clear Creek Ladies report
On Wednesday, the Clear Creek Ladies Golf Association hosted its September Retirees Scramble. First-place winners were Carol Roberson, Dan Hall, Brad Heisler and John Nelson. Second place went to Cheri Williams, Al Ford, Keith Gordon and Bob Walters. Third-place winners were Emily Bonelli, Larry Cook, Frank McGowan and Don Watt.
Carol Roberson and Bob Walters hit the day’s longest drives. Closest-to-pin awards went to Carol Roberson, Cheri Williams, Don Watt and Frank McGowan. Lynne Brush, John Nelson and Davey Simmons made chip-ins.
Over the River Run
Registration is now open for the 29th annual Over the River Run, a 5-mile run and race walk across the Old Mississippi River Bridge.
This year’s race is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 14 at 8 a.m. at the Mississippi Welcome Center on Washington Street. A 1-mile children’s fun run will follow the 5-mile events.
The entry fee for the race is $25 for the 5-mile run and walk, or $15 for children 10 and under. There is also a family rate of $75 for up to five family members living at the same address. The registration fees will go up to $35 and $25 on race day. The entry fees include admission to the postrace party at Ameristar’s Delta Point parking lot on Washington Street, a race T-shirt and age group trophies.
All proceeds from the race benefit The Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation.

Adult co-ed softball
Registration for the City of Vicksburg’s adult co-ed softball league will continue until Sept. 15. The registration fee is $175 per team, plus an extra $10 for residents of Warren County and $20 for each resident of Sharkey, Issaquena and Claiborne counties. Fall baseball registration
Registration for the City of Vicksburg’s fall youth baseball league will continue until Sept. 15. The league is for players ages 5-15, and will be split into five age groups. Coaches are needed for all teams.
The registration fee is $25 per player. Registration forms are available at 601 Sports on Pemberton Blvd., and at the Parks and Recreation offices. For information call 601-634-4514.
Hinds CC golf tourney
Hinds Community College’s Warren-Claiborne County Alumni Chapter will host the Clyde Donnell and Othel Mendrop Memorial Golf Tournament Oct. 18 at Clear Creek Golf Course in Bovina.
The tournament is a four-person scramble, and will begin with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Registration begins at 12:30. The registration fee is $75 per player and includes green fee, cart, hamburger dinner and refreshments.
