The streets around the Old Court House Museum will be full of vendors and shoppers Oct. 7 for the museum’s annual fall flea market.

The flea market is held twice a year, in the spring and the fall, and averages more than 2,000 visitors who tour the booths that cover both sides of Cherry, Jackson and Monroe streets featuring arts and crafts and food items. Last year’s fall market drew 4,000 people.

The market this year will be held in conjunction with Downtown Vicksburg’s 23rd annual Fall Festival.

“We’ll be here all day, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.,” museum curator and director Bubba Bolm said.

“So far, we have 70 vendors signed up, and we expect to have 100 by that Saturday.”

He said the arts and crafts booths will feature items like bird houses, wooden toys, baskets and stained glass. Sid Ervin, who has been a regular at the flea market for 17 years, will be selling honey during the market.

“We will have the Boy Scouts selling goodies, and Christ Episcopal Church will be selling its meat pies,” Bolm said.

He said the fee for arts and crafts booths is $60, and $70 for food booths. Applications for booth space will be accepted through Oct. 6.

“We always mark off the booths the Friday before,” he said. “So that Friday is the deadline.”
