Gladys Blunt of Hampton, Va., transitioned from this world to a new home Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Blunt was born Oct. 24, 1923, in Cedars to the late Estella and Willie Grays.
She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church located in Newport News, Va.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jonah Blunt Sr.
She is survived by her daughters, Doris Williams of Vicksburg, Estella (Eddie) Middleton of Hampton, Va., Alma Williams of Hampton, Va., Willie Mae (Russell) Pruitt of Birmingham, Ala., Martha (Billy) McMurray of Macomb, Mich., and Shirley (Vincent) Snead of Hampton, Va.; her sons, Jonah Blunt Jr. of Macon, Ga., and Benny (Janet) Blunt of Hampton, Va.; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, at Zion Travelers Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Alfred Lassiter Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, at the funeral home from 1p.m. to 7 p.m. with family present from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
