A 76-year-old man who was reported missing Monday has been found.
Vicksburg deputy police chief Bobby Steward said James Wesley Jenkins was found Tuesday morning in a wooded area behind Shady Lawn Nursing Home where he was a resident.
“He was about one-eighth of a mile from Shady Lawn, sitting on the edge of a ravine,” Stewart said. “He was conscious and was taken by ambulance to Merit Health (River Region) for observation.”
Jenkins became the subject of a search that began Monday afternoon after he was reported missing from the nursing home.
Police Chief Milton Moore said Jenkins, who has dementia, walked out of the door of the nursing home late Monday morning. Police and Warren County first responders searched the wooded area behind the nursing home, the Porters Chapel/Indiana Avenue area, and the areas along North and South Frontage roads before finding Jenkins.
