Man accused in shooting, robbery, turns self in

A 21-year-old man wanted by Vicksburg police in the reported early Monday morning shooting and robbery of another man has turned himself in, deputy chief Bobby Stewart said.

He said Jalin Hargrove, 21, turned himself in at the Vicksburg Police Department about 1 p.m. Thursday. He was being held without bail in the Issaquena County Correction Center pending an initial appearance Friday in Municipal Court. Police had issued a warrant accusing him of armed robbery and aggravated assault in the shooting.

The shooting occurred about 12:16 a.m. Monday.

Officers responding to a call about a reported aggravated assault and attempted robbery involving a 20-year-old man arrived to find the man sitting in a white 2006 Nissan Armada with multiple gunshot wounds to the abdomen, side and head. He was taken to Merit Health River Region, where he was in stable condition.

The shooting was one of two early Monday morning.

Stewart said police are continuing their investigation into the shooting death of Maurice Henderson, 36, who died early Monday morning from multiple gunshot wounds after a shooting on Baldwin Ferry Road.

Officers responding about 12:04 a.m. to a call of shots fired at the East View Apartments, 1900 Baldwin Ferry Road, arrived to find Henderson on the ground in front of building 14 with multiple gunshot wounds.

Henderson was pronounced dead at the scene by Warren County Coroner Doug Huskey.

Witnesses told police they heard an argument and then shots were fired. They said a dark colored vehicle left the area at a high rate of speed after the shooting.
