Warren County authorities are looking for two men who led sheriff’s investigators on a chase before driving their vehicle into a heavily wooded area and fleeing on foot Wednesday, Sheriff Martin Pace said.
He said the chase began about 10:11 a.m. when investigators went to a home off Standard Hill Road to serve a warrant on a burglary suspect, who was sitting in a blue Chevrolet Blazer with another man when the investigators pulled up to the house.
As the investigators pulled up, the men in the Blazer left at high rate of speed, starting a chase that went from Standard Hill Road to North Washington Street, then on Chickasaw Road to the intersection of Chickasaw and Long Lake Road, where they drove through a field and into a heavily wooded area, where the SUV became stuck and the men left on foot.
The investigators were unable to follow the men in their vehicles.
Pace said extra manpower was called, including a Vicksburg Police Department K-9, to help search the area.
