Vicksburg Police recover stolen tools in wooded area

Vicksburg police Wednesday seized a cache of tools reportedly taken from Home Depot, 50 Halls Ferry Park Road, and hidden in a wooded area between the store and Halls Ferry Park.
Sgt. Johnnie Edwards said the items were found by a city employee working in the area who called police.
The cache included power tools, a compressor and two faucet sets with handles.
In other cases:
• Shekeya Hill, 21, was arrested Wednesday about 3:55 p.m. on a police department warrant charging her with burglary. She also had two outstanding grand jury warrants. Police earlier in the day arrested Spencer Griffin on a police department warrant charging him with the same burglary. He also had outstanding grand jury warrants
• Eric Wayne Boykin, 41, speeding under 21 mph; open container.
• William Monroe Stokes, 29, grand jury warrants, larceny of more than $400.
• George Baker, 60, contempt of court.
• Mary McClemon Wyatt, 43, contempt of court.
• Eto Falola Moore, 39, disorderly conduct — failure to comply.
• Angela Christine Sumrall, 47, trespassing; giving false information.
• Vicksburg police are looking for man who ran from an officer early Wednesday morning as the officer was checking out a suspicious vehicle on Fayette Street.
Sgt. Johnnie Edwards said Jemerio Washington, 19, of Utica ran from the officer when he approached a parked U-Haul truck in which Washington was sitting. The incident occurred about 1:52 a.m. Wednesday.
“The officer saw the truck parked on Fayette Street and became suspicious. He walked over to the truck to talk to Washington, and he ran off.”
He said during the foot chase Washington got rid of a handgun that had an altered serial number. The gun was recovered, as was Washington’s identification and cell phone, which left in the truck when he ran off.
• Ronald Emmett Coleman, 61, misdemeanor possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, giving false information. He was also wanted on a warrant from Louisiana for parole violation,
• Willis Junior Jordan, 57, contempt of court.
• Channing Dickerson Burden, 38, simple assault — creating fear.
• Sidney Renee Bonner, 21, simple assault.
• John Robert Ward, 35, simple assault.
• Cedrick Damond Johnson was arrested Tuesday in the 4400 block of Clay Street on three counts of contempt of court.
• A Dell laptop computer, iPad and an Xbox were reported taken Tuesday about 4:30 p.m. from a home in the 900 block of National Street.
• Shots were reported fired about 9:45 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Porters Chapel Road and Indiana Avenue.
• A counterfeit $100 bill was passed at Ameristar Casino, 4116 Washington St.
• Police were called to a home in the 900 block of Grove Street about harassment through social media.
• A 55-inch plasma Vizio TV and a 33-inch plasma Vizio TV were reported taken about 3:56 p.m. from a home in the 100 block of Kings Crossing Road.
• Malicious Mischief was reported Thursday at 11:11 a.m. in the 400 block of Belva Drive.
• Simple assault — creating fear was reported about 10:12 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of Buena Vista drive.
• A petit larceny was reported about 8:48 a.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of Mop Lane.
• Malicious mischief was reported in the 1000 block of Markham Street.
Police reported the following cases Tuesday:
Derrick Denard Davis, 18, was arrested about 1:38 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of shoplifting at Fred’s, 3427 Halls Ferry Road. He was also charged with possession of marijuana.
• Ariel Monae Felix, 21, was arrested about 2:41 p.m. Tuesday at the Vicksburg Police Department on a charge of contempt of court.
• Louis Montrell Leroy Flowers, 27, was arrested about 3:04 p.m. in the 3000 block of Washington Street on a charge of disorderly conduct — failure to comply.
• A 60-inch Samsun TV, six pair of Nike Air Jordans, five Nike wind suits and 15 pairs of sunglasses were reported taken about 9:38 a.m. from Indiana Self Storage, 2466 South Frontage Road.
• A PlayStation 4 and controllers were reported taken from a home in the 3000 block of Washington Street.
• A counterfeit $10 bill was reported passed Tuesday at 1:57 p.m. at WaterView Casino, 3990 Washington St.
Vicksburg police answered the following calls Tuesday:
• 5:13 p.m.: vehicle collision at South Frontage Rd near Indiana Avenue, no injuries reported. No Injuries
• 12:39 p.m.: a car tag was reported stolen in the 400 block of Lake Hill Drive.
• 7:16 a.m.: vandalism to AT&T equipment in the 50 block of Cedars Road.
