Robert V. “Bob” Parker died Friday, Dec. 8, 2017.

He was born on Aug. 15, 1945, in Vicksburg to Jeanne Schmid Parker and Harrell E. Parker.

He graduated from H. V. Cooper High School in 1964. He went on to graduate from Louisiana Tech University, with a bachelor degree in life sciences.

Bob’s career spread from Louisiana, to Georgia, to Texas, to Mississippi serving as Forestry Manager with Kimberly Clark Corporation, Louisiana Pacific Corporation, and Mississippi Pacific. Later, Bob founded Timber Group and US Tie, LLC located in Vicksburg. His love for the timber industry started as a young boy and continued until his death. He was an avid hunter and a good steward for wildlife and land management.

Bob and his family were devoted members of Hawkins United Methodist Church. Bob and Linda Stephens were married in 1966 and they have two children, Lisa and Victor.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; his children, Lisa (Don) Hill of Pinellas Park, Fla., and Victor Parker of Beaumont, Texas; two granddaughters, Logan and Samantha Hill; a nephew and niece, Troy and Tara Corbin of Florida; and cousins, Bettye Carol McWilliams, Roy Campbell, Laura McWilliams, Larry McWilliams Jr., Christy McCoy, and Bobbie Hamilton, all of Vicksburg.

Services will be noon Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017, at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Sally Bevill, pastor of Hawkins United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Mitchell Hedgepeth officiating.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment will follow at

Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Victor Parker, Don Hill, Andrew Cook, A.J. Beard, Justin Vinzant, Paul Booth, Justin Maggio, and Jason Ross.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Bufkin, Wayne McPhail, Dr. Joseph Wilson, Jeff Jenkins, Dr. Brian Hudson, Larry McWilliams Jr., David Burton, Todd Horn, Tully Hall, Chuck Abraham, and Josh Turner.
