The Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation’s free after-school art program is now open for registration.

The art program will begin Jan. 25, 2018, and is open to any child in first through sixth grade.

According to Stacey Mahoney, executive director of the SCHF, the River Kids Program is designed to encourage children to discover and develop their creative talents. 

“It will expose creativity through drawing, painting, crafts, collage, ceramics, sculpture and many more exciting techniques,” Mahoney said. 

Experienced and accredited educators, Karen Biedenharn and Regina Renot Mattei, plan and teach each class. 

The program, which will accept the first 60 students who register, is free, but will require a full semester commitment from the parents, according to Mahoney. Students meet on Thursdays from 3:45 to 5 p.m. for the 13-week program.
