The schools are hosting an Heir Property Workshop Saturday at Hinds Community College’s Utica campus at the amphitheater next to the Walter Washington Academic Building located at 34175 Mississippi-18. The event starts at 9 a.m., and a panel of attorneys will be present to answer any property questions.

“Alcorn organizes many outreach programs throughout the state,” said Anthony Reed, interim assistant extension administrator.

“We have a choice number of certification classes, and in those classes we have common discussion ethics to land and property ownership. A lot of the conversation we hear is about issues with heir property, because they have land and they want to know what can they do with it. And it hasn’t just been here. It’s been all over the states for a number of years. So we just thought this was a perfect topic so citizens are aware of what they can and cannot do with their property.”
