Jewel R. Matthews Gaylor

Jewel R. Matthews Gaylor, 93, of Vicksburg went to be with the Lord Dec. 23, 2017; her loved ones were by her side.
Ms. Jewel was born in Forest on Aug. 29, 1924.
She was owner of Matthews Auto Parts and worked there as bookkeeper until she was 89.
She was a faithful member of Immanuel Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years and sang in the choir. She was a member of the Candle Lighters Sunday School Class.
She was preceded by a sister, Mae Durr; and brothers, Chester Robinson and Bo Robinson; and husbands, H.G. Matthews and David Gaylor.
She is survived by her son, James R. “Ronnie” Matthews; her daughter, Joni Matthews; grandchildren, Ken Matthews (Heather), Kristi M. Beasley (Robbie); great-grandchildren, Sean Matthews, Caley Matthews, Connor Matthews; and great-great grandson, Jude.
A special thank you to care giver, John Tinsley, the nurses at Kindred Home Health and the nurses of St. Joseph Hospice.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017, from noon until 2 p.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy Brumfield officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
