VGSA registration

Registration is now open until Feb. 10 for the Vicksburg Girls Softball Association’s spring season.

The fast-pitch league is for players ages 4-16. Players must have turned 4 years old by Feb. 28, 2018, and will be placed in divisions according to their age as of Dec. 31, 2017. The registration fees are $60 for one player, or $50 per player for multiple family members in the same house. Team and banner sponsors are also available.

The season begins March 24.

VSO spring registration

Registration is now open for the Vicksburg Soccer Organization’s spring season, and will continue through Jan. 31.

The league is open to children ages 4 and up, with teams split into different age groups. The registration fees are $60 for children in the U4-U6 age groups; $80 for the U8 division; $85 for U10; and $90 for U12 and above.

Red Carpet scholarship

Applications are now being accepted for the Red Carpet Bowl scholarship awards. The $500 scholarships are available to students at each of Warren County’s four high schools — Warren Central, Vicksburg High, St. Aloysius and Porter’s Chapel Academy — and will be awarded in the spring. To apply, students must fill out an application and write a 500-word essay.

The deadline to apply is March 1. Applications are available by contacting the main office at each school or by calling Red Carpet Bowl committee member Travis Vance at 601-218-8556.

Arrowhead Golf Tour

The Arrowhead Junior Golf Tour will host the Averifact Junior Classic Feb. 17-18 at Lakewood Country Club in New Orleans. The two-day, 36-hole tournament is open to golfers ages 11-18 and is ranked by the Junior Golf Scoreboard.

The entry fee is $195 and includes green fees, tee gifts and trophies. The registration deadline is Feb. 14. To register or for more information, visit arrowheadjgt.com or call Diane Ford at 985-630-3066.

Hinds baseball showcase

Hinds Community College will host its annual Winter Baseball Showcase Jan. 27 at Joe G. Moss Field in Raymond. The showcase is open to players in grades 9-12 and costs $100 per player. Coaches from Hinds and other junior colleges and universities will be in attendance.

Players must bring their own cleats, turf shoes, glove, bats and other equipment.

Money will not be accepted until the day of the showcase in case of weather issues, but pre-registration is available by emailing Hinds assistant coach Nick Ammirati at nicholas.ammirati@hindscc.edu.
