Ticket prices will soon be increasing at local high school sporting events.

At their meeting last week, the Vicksburg Warren School District Board of Trustees unanimously approved a motion to increase athletic ticket prices to be more in line with area schools.

Ticket prices for football were $5 for general admission $7 for reserved tickets this season. Other sports are $5 and junior varsity and junior high sports are $4.

Under the new rules, general admission tickets for football will be $7 and reserve tickets will be $10. All other sports, including junior varsity and junior high, will be $5.

The motion also created a new student season pass. Students can purchase a pass for $50 and they will receive access to all sporting events at both their school and their school’s feeder school.

“Much of the athletic budget comes from ticket sales from the year before,” athletic director Preston Nailor said in his proposal to the board. “We currently are doing very well with ticket sales across the district, but we would like to increase the prices to meet the needs of the athletic department to function as the cost of everything is constantly going up.”

According to the motion, ticket prices had not been raised in a decade, leaving them behind area schools. Tickets for Madison sports are $7 for football general admission and $9 for reserved football. All other sports are $5.

Tickets in Germantown, Clinton and Brandon match the new VWSD guidelines at $7 for football general admission and $10 for football reserved tickets. All other sports are $5.
