ROLLING FORK — Miriam McLellan Perry of Rolling Fork passed away Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018. She was 101 years old.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Baskin Perry.
She graduated from MSCW and later got her masters degree from Mississippi State. After marrying, she came to Rolling Fork and began a teaching career in 1949 in Anguilla; after two years, she began a long teaching career in Rolling Fork, where she only taught third grade.
She was a founding member of the Rolling Fork Presbyterian Church until it closed. Then, she became a member of Rolling Fork Methodist Church. She was an active member in SOW, SEW, and S O Methodist group. She was a charter member of Rolling Fork Garden Club and a member of the BPW Club.
She loved Mississippi State and attended all athletic events.
She was her grandchildren’s most avid fan at all high school sports events.
She is survived by her son, Earl Baskin Perry Jr. (Patsy); daughters, Patsy Perry Johnson (Billy) and Pamela Perry Hengst (Tommy); grandchildren, Kelly Perry (Susan), Shay Perry (Casey), John Reid (Tiffany), Perry Gardner, Christian Gardner (Sydney), Todd Hengst (Glynn), Jennifer H. Grierson (Randy), and Walker Hengst (Ginger); and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Rolling Fork Methodist Church with services following at 11 a.m. at the church. The Rev. Larry Sappington will officiate.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and Randy Grierson.
