Works by some of the best artists in Mississippi will soon be on display in Vicksburg.

The Southern Cultural Heritage Center, 1302 Adams St., will be hosting the Mississippi Art Colony’s Fall Colony 2017 Traveling Show throughout much of March and April.

The show was cultivated by guest artist David Hornung and includes select pieces from members of the art colony including local artists Elke Briuer and Randy Jolly.

The show will be on display March 5-April 24 and is free to attend.

“It is great because it is part of what we do,” SCHC executive director Stacey Mahoney said of hosting the show. “Being able to offer a show that is free to the community and they can come and enjoy the art and on top to have some local artist in there is a great event to offer the community.”

The show will be held in the center’s exhibit hall and can be accessed by going through the main entrance by the SCHC office. It will be open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to noon and 1-5 p.m.

The show made previous stops at the Meridian Museum of Art and the Museum of Mississippi Delta.

Mahoney said the SCHC previously hosted the colony’s spring show a few years ago. The pieces will arrive and be hung at the end of the week.

A closing reception will be held at the conclusion of the show, but Mahoney said the date and time has not been set yet.
