Many little girls see their dads as heroes — ready to fight the fiercest of dragons.
And as time passes, many of these women will grow to revere the man who raised them.
Father and daughter relationships — they are as unique and special as each father and daughter.
On Monday, the Purks YMCA held a Father-Daughter Dinner Date to celebrate the relationship between little girls and the main man in her life.
“I thought this would be a great opportunity to spend a little time with my daughter and do something special just for her,” Mike Woolsey said.
His daughter Grace said the Father-Daughter Dinner Date had been a surprise for her.
“I was just told we were going out to eat somewhere, so when we drove into the Y and when I saw it, I saw that it was a big thing,” 10-year-old Grace Woolsey said.
This is the second year the YMCA has sponsored the Father-Daughter Dinner Date, YMCA membership director Lauren Coulon said.
The special evening started out with each young lady receiving a wrist corsage.
Then to add to the fun, fathers and daughters were asked to fill out a little quiz, which asked questions about the other.
The dinner itself was held at the Beechwood Restaurant and Lounge, and to get there, all were driven in a party bus that was decked out with lights and music.
There was a red carpet rolled out for the restaurant’s special guests and moms were on handing snapping pictures.
“The moms just get to come to take pictures on the red carpet, but once the girls and dad’s get in, no moms are allowed,” Coulon said.
