The accused murderer in a Wednesday afternoon shooting that left one person dead has been given a $1 million bond.
Darrion Keenan Truly, 21, 133 Meadowbrook Drive, is charged with murder in the Wednesday death of Richard Albert Sr.
Truly had his initial appearance Friday morning in front of Judge Toni Terrett where he was given a bond of $1 million. He will be held in the Warren County Jail pending the next session of the grand jury, Vicksburg Police Sgt. Johnnie Edwards said.
Vicksburg Police officers responded to a call of shots fired on Feld Street around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. When they arrived, officers found Albert lying in the street with multiple gun shot wounds to the chest, VPD chief Milton Moore said.
Paramedics attempted to revive Albert, Moore said, but were unable to and he was pronounced dead at the scene by coroner Doug Huskey.
Edwards said Truly was on the street visiting someone when Albert approached him because he had previously seen Truly’s car on the street.
“One word led to the next and that was the end result,” Edwards said.
Truly initially fled the scene in a vehicle, according to a VPD release, before turning himself in at the police station shortly after.
Edwards said officers did recover the weapon used in the shooting.
